JP Medicals Recruitment is currently recruiting an Elderly Care Nurse for a flexible locum position in Manchester region.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Assessing and managing chronic illnesses such as dementia, arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory conditions.
Administering medications, IV therapy, injections, and pain management as per the care plan.
Assisting with mobility support, fall prevention, and rehabilitation exercises.
Providing palliative and end-of-life care, ensuring dignity and comfort.
Treating pressure ulcers, infections, and other age-related skin conditions.
Implementing preventative care measures to reduce the risk of bedsores and skin breakdown.
Helping patients with eating, drinking, bathing, dressing, and toileting.
Monitoring nutrition and hydration to prevent malnutrition and dehydration.
Encouraging independence while providing necessary assistance with daily activities.
Managing Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, and other cognitive disorders.
Providing emotional and psychological support for patients experiencing anxiety, depression, or confusion.
Implementing memory care strategies to improve cognitive engagement.
Guiding families on elderly care best practices, including medication management and mobility support.
Offering emotional support and bereavement care when needed.
Coordinating respite care for caregivers.
Working with GPs, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and social workers to develop comprehensive care plans.
Coordinating hospital discharges and transition care to home or nursing facilities.
Monitoring for signs of elder abuse, neglect, or self-harm, and escalating concerns appropriately.
Ensuring compliance with NMC regulations, NHS policies, and CQC (Care Quality Commission) standards.
Implementing infection control measures to maintain a safe environment.
Requirements
NMC Registration
Minimum 6 six months experience
Full UK driving Licence is essential
Valid Visa to work in the UK
