JP Medicals Recruitment is currently recruiting an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) for a flexible locum position in London
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Preparing the operating theatre, equipment, and medications before surgery.
Assisting the anaesthetist with airway management, intubation, and pain relief.
Monitoring patient vital signs before and during anaesthesia.
Ensuring patient safety and comfort before surgery begins.
Setting up sterile surgical instruments and equipment.
Providing the correct instruments, sutures, and swabs to the surgical team.
Ensuring strict aseptic techniques to prevent infections.
Anticipating surgeon needs and responding quickly during procedures.
Monitoring patient recovery from anaesthesia in the Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU).
Checking for complications like respiratory distress, bleeding, or adverse reactions.
Managing pain relief and fluid balance.
Supporting patients during wake-up and transition to the ward or discharge.
Assisting in resuscitation and trauma procedures in A&E and ICU settings.
Providing life-saving interventions such as CPR, airway management, and defibrillation.
Supporting rapid response teams in critical situations.
Maintaining and sterilising surgical instruments and anaesthesia equipment.
Checking and troubleshooting ventilators, monitors, and surgical devices.
Ensuring strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
Providing reassurance and support to patients before surgery.
Explaining procedures and post-operative care.
Communicating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure patient safety
Requirements
HCPC Registration
Minimum 6 six months of NHS or private hospital experience
Full UK driving Licence is essential
Valid Visa to work in the UK
